About Antisperm Antibodies

Antisperm antibodies happens when the immune system mistakenly targets sperm in a man's semen as an invader and damages or kills it, potentially leading to infertility. The prevalence of antisperm antibodies (ASA) in infertile couples has been estimated to range between 9% and 36%.

Causes: an infection or inflammation in prostate or an injury to testicles can set off an immune response when the sperm comes in contact with blood. This can also happen after a testicle surgery, like a vasectomy.
